About Carrie...

Hi, I'm Carrie! I started Bowerham Pet Care because as a devoted pet owner myself, I know how important it is to get bespoke pet care from someone you trust. With over 30 years experience of working in the animal industry, I feel I can provide that service to my local community, ensuring high quality, loving care to pets and peace of mind to their owners. I don't just see your pets as an animal, I see them as a member of your family and fur babies who you love and cherish. That's why I always I consult with customers to find out their exact needs and wishes, ensuring that I fulfil them with care and attention in a way that I would want my own pets to be treated.

My background and experience...

I grew up with animals, its in my blood! For many years my parents ran a North West RSPCA branch, then later on a local pet shop business and exotic animal roadshow as well as a wildlife rescue organisation. I helped out with these and later took on the animal roadshow myself, which I still occasionally do to this day!

After university I went into science teaching. I did that for a few years, but missed working with animals, so I became an an Animal Studies Technician at a local college and then became an Animal Studies Lecturer for 16 years. During this time, I taught students aged 16 to adult, all aspects of Animal Care including Animal Behaviour & Welfare, Animal Health, Animal Biology, Animal Handling, Dog Grooming, Wildlife & Conservation and Exotic Animal Management.

I love all animals, but my biggest passion is for cats. I completed a Diploma in Feline Behaviour and Psychology and have 2 cats of my own. I have many other pets including reptiles and invertebrates. I also rescue tortoises!

As well as my Diploma in Feline Behaviour & Psychology, I also am qualified in Pet First Aid & CPR, Dog Grooming and Zoopharmacognosy.
